North Island vistas ... sweeping mountains and sea, macro florals

Wellington is situated on a large bay surrounded by some pretty high hills. Reminiscent of San Francisco, this shot was taken from the look-out on Mt. Victoria.
"Floating" above Wellington's Civic Center is a sculpture incorporating the national symbol silver fern.
Seaside town Napier is home to a small collection of art deco architecture. To be honest, compared to South Beach Miami theirs isn't much to write home about. Hence a shot of the shore.
Napier does have lovely public gardens featuring a lovely spring display.
New Zealand is dotted with an active volcano chain. Therefore it has several thermal sites. This pond is hundreds of degrees and saturated with orange ferous (iron) stuff which gives the orange color.
Tongariro National Park has three active volcanoes. Here's two of them from afar.
Amongst Tongariro's volcanic peaks are lakes formed in past eruption craters.
A typical roadside scene.
