Blossom Festival, Newark, NJ
Each Spring, Newark, NJ hosts its own lesser known Cherry Blossom
Festival in Branch Brook Park. The park was designed by Olmsted's firm which
also designed Central and Prospect parks. The cherry tress were a 1927 gift.

The park was fairly crowded with visitors,
including quite a high percentage of folks of Indian heritage. My friend who
accompanied me, coincidentally also of Indian heritage, asked, "Where are
they all coming from?" Beats me. But this woman was wearing a beautiful sari
that I wanted to capture in a photo. So we sort of stalked her for a bit
until the opportunity arose. |
